What do people boast about in this city? What do we boast about the most? In the previous chapter, false apostles were boasting about their national identity, credentials and experiences (ch. 11: 12-21). And so this led Paul to boast reluctantly in order to silence them. But, Paul does this by talking about himself in the third person rather than in the first person. After reluctantly talking about his unusual experiences, he begins to boast in his weaknesses to show where true power comes from.
